This is the basic info about the horrible act of shark finning.
What is Shark Finning? Shark Finning is the act of cutting off the fins of live sharks and throwing the live sharks back into the ocean.
Why does this happen? Shark Finning is very common because of the ever growing fad of shark fin soup. This soup is considered and Asian delicacy.
What happens to the sharks after their fins are cut? The sharks die after they are thrown back into the water. They can die by drowning, starvation, or being eaten. In the end they always die horrible, painful deaths.
Why do we care? We care because sharks have been around since before the dinosaurs. Sharks do not deserve to be tortured and have to die awful deaths just because their fins have been declared an Asian delicacy. If we kill all the sharks than other animals will be affected as well. In the food chain whenever a species goes extinct it will effect other species greatly, causing a chain reaction.
